Hi all, this is my first post and could really use some advice.
My 15 month old son has never been a great sleeper. He has slept through a handful of times but not regularly. We seemed to be getting somewhere a few weeks back but it's all gone to pot!
I'm unsure if I'm giving him too much / enough milk, not enough naps, or if we've formed a bad habit of going into him at night....!!!
He is a very happy and very active child during the day. He usually wakes between 7-8am. He has 3 meals a day plus snacks (refusing to eat any meat, even chicken! He mainly has fruit and veg, pasta and fish)
He has a bottle at nap time usually around 11.30am (8oz) and will sleep for anywhere from 1/2 hour to 1 hour. He then has a bottle at bedtime at 7pm. He is excellent at going to bed and going to sleep. He would then usually wake for a bottle at some point in the night (around 3-4am) which he was taking less and less so I could see him getting towards sleeping through.
First question, am I giving him enough milk, he has 3 x 8oz bottles in a 24 hr period. I have tried giving him more in the day to see if that helped at night but it meant that he was refusing to eat solids... 🤦♀️🤷♀️
Afternoon naps are a bit hit and miss, sometimes he will sometimes not. He's never been a big sleeper in the day.
Anyway, the last week he has been waking every night pretty much exactly 3.5 hours after going to bed, absolutely distraught. Almost like he's not awake, crying and screaming, getting himself into a right state. Refusing his bottle not responding to usual soothing methods. It can take anywhere up to 1 hour to get him back to sleep. He has then been waking again around 3-4 am as usual for his bottle. And then awake happy as Larry in the morning. No fussing or crying throughout the day.
He's just started walking and I believe he has 3 molars coming at the same time.... can this distress be down to teething?
Any advice greatly received.
