Bedsharing - baby fell out of bed, help!

We have been bedsharing since DD was 4 months due to suddenly completely rejecting the crib/cot. She is now 1yo and still in with us. We try every night to get her in her cot but the longest we get without her waking is an hour.

She sleeps really well with us but recent teething means she is moving around a lot. Last night she fell out of bed! We use a purple daisies foam bed guard as she sleeps on the outside edge next to me as per safe bedsharing advice. It's always worked well but clearly we need to revisit this.

So my questions are:

  • Can we put her in between us now she's over a year old or is this risky?
  • Is there a safer taller bed guard I could try, one that doesn't risk entrapment?

If anyone can give me any advice on how to get her in her cot please please do share! She still breastfeeds through the night. Not interested in any sort of cry it out sleep training!

I hope she's ok!

We have the same problem. I use a side cot for my DD and it's against the wall. So she is asleep in her own bed but still next to me. It's worked well as before she used to only sleep literally by my side but now she sleeps in her bed. Maybe you could try this.

We put our mattress on the floor.

I took the side off the cot and strapped it to the bed with bungees
