My bed share experience

I have DD, who is my second child and 10 weeks old. I have been bed sharing since birth. Whilst I did co-sleep with my first child, I did not bed share, as I was too nervous.

Due to having a nocturnal toddler, DH only makes flyover visits to our bed, which means DD and I have the luxury of a super king to ourselves.

When I read about bed sharing, people always comment on how they spend the night curled round and close to baby. Whilst I fall asleep next to DD, I seem to gravitate towards the possible furthest spot of the bed away from DD during the night and have my back to her.

Is my maternal instinct broken? Anyone else do this?

We played musical beds throughout my children’s whole childhood. Sometimes we sleep curled up together, sometimes as far away as possible. I loved cosleeping, but also frequently liked being in completely different countries to my DC, so maybe my instincts are fucked too! 😂

I’ve been bedsharing with my dd since birth (she’s now 7 months old) admittedly for the first 3 months she slept on me as that was the only way she’d sleep but since 12 weeks we've been sleeping like an old married couple with her on her side and me on mine Grin I’ve never slept curled around her and even though she still breastfeeds frequently in the night I cannot get on with feeding her on my side curled up. I pick her up and hold her and then put her straight back down on her side and turn over! So maybe my instincts broken as well Wink
