Hi everyone,

Newly parents here and wanting to hear how you coped with family holidays. Basically our son is 7months and goes to sleep between 7pm and 9pm depending. Holiday time we want him to enjoy family time with extended family which will mean late nights etc and culturally it's welcomed if kids stay up late. It's a short haul flight but a holiday which will be less regimented and possibly arrive later (plus we are planning another holiday with a really late arrival time plus 1 hour transit to accommodation).

Welcome thoughts, tried and tested success as well as failures.

Thanks

Isobel and Kristoff
P.s. We will be sharing our first travel experience with other parents through our blogspace

Hi there,
We've moved your post to Sleep so perhaps you'll get some responses there.

@GreatochatIK we have/had the same dilemma. In laws are French where kids are allowed to stay up etc. We first went when my son was 9 months at Christmas and to be honest we stuck with his routine of bed about 7 (8 by the time difference). We were staying in a holiday home and family came to us so was a bit easier.
In the summer, when DS will be 18 months it might be a bit trickier as we're staying with family in the south of FRANCE. I'm planning to try and go with the flow a bit and except there might be some nights when DS stays up but there will be others when he goes to bed early.

Thanks for sharing and can see that this is not something simple. Sounds like we will be sticking to routine for now with him being so long.
