13 month old crazy sleep issues

Hi, over the past 2 weeks my 13 month old has been waking up after a few hours and screaming the house down and slapping punching at my wife and I, she seems to be in total distress and it takes us hours at a time to get her back over. We thought it was teething, she's been getting pain relief to help with it before bed and when she wakes up but it doesn't seem to help. I put her down to night and she went for 30mins then it started again, I took her out of her sleep suit and she started rolling, climbing and crawling like mad still half asleep and whimpering. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm going to go to out of hours first thing in the morning as it's starting to get really worrying

My first went through a stage of having night terrors which sound quite similar to what you're describing. Horrible to witness but apparently the child is completely unaware of them and won't have any recollection afterwards either.

Usually distressed night wakes like that are either illness or overtiredness. Is she napping well in the day?

Thanks for the replies guys, we took her to the Dr who instantly diagnosed it as night terrors. Luckily they've started to ease off a little bit now, hopefully they stop soon. Thanks again!
