Naps for ten month old?

Just curious how many naps your ten month old baby takes?? Mine is on three STILL!? He sometimes fights the last one and I put him down for an early bedtime when he does. I thought he would be on two / one by now?? Hmm

Mines on 2, with a bedtime of 7pm

If he’s fighting the third one maybe drop it and see how he goes?

We have roughly 3-4 hours of awake time between sleep

LutherRalph1 · 05/06/2019 07:57

Mine was on 2 at 10 months, he was waking around 6.30 napping at 9 for 40 mins ish then again st half 1

He's 14 months now and still doing the same but gradually they are getting longer

firstimemamma · 05/06/2019 07:59

Mine will be 10 months tomorrow! He has 2 - a morning one that he has to have 2-3 hours after waking or he'll be grumpy and an afternoon one. Asleep in cot by 7pm. Smile

He seems to only be able to do like 2 hours awake in the morning... ?? Is that unusual ?? he can do 3 in the afternoon.... but we end up with a stupidly early bed time / wake time (5am) on two naps a day. And he seems really unsettled all night then... more so than usual!!

I really struggle to tell over tired vs undertired too?? How do you tell the difference?? I'm just making a total shit show of naps Confused

Mine was on 3 naps (similar 2 hours after waking in the morning). Now 13 months and on 2 naps with 3 and a half hours wake time in between.

Ds is 12 months, he doesn't last long in the mornings either. He tends to have a 1h30 nap after about 2 hours of being awake. Then another hour long nap in the afternoon.

livin · 05/06/2019 08:31

Mine takes three too.

5:45am wake up

7:30-8:30 nap

11:30-12:15 nap

3-3:30 nap

7pm bed

Jbonesmumma1 · 05/06/2019 08:40

Thanks ladies for your replies! Good to know we arnt the only ones still on three naps a day. Just curious... do your little ones nap on the go still? Or only in their cribs? My DS will only sleep in our bed... so it makes getting out and about a bit awkward ...

Mine will nap on the go in the pushchair or on the sofa with me sitting next to her. She doesn't nap in her crib for some reason but will sleep all night in there.

Mumbaikar · 05/06/2019 09:17

Mine will nap in the car if it's nap time but only if she is really tired in the pushchair (too much to see I think). Her best naps are in her cot. I just try to plan activities around the naps.

PeacefulInTheDeep · 05/06/2019 09:34

Mine is 10 months and also still has 3 naps. Give or take half an hour either way, his day is:
7am wake
9-9.30 nap
12-2 nap
4.30-5 nap
7pm bedtime

He naps best in his cot. We're often in our way back from activities at 11.30 ish and he falls asleep in the car and I transfer him to bed. It takes him ages to fall asleep in the pushchair, and he'll stir after half an hour and not fall back asleep like he would at home.

I recently managed DD from 3-2. She used to do this -
6.30 wake up
8.30-9.15nap
12.30-1.30nap
3.45-4.30 nap
7/7.30 bed
(Lots of wakes during the night...)
Once we started hitting a bigger appetite I found I was either feeding or getting down for a sleep and we never left the house! I then started pushing for two naps only which initially required lots of distraction and moved the times slightly now we have this
6.30 wake up
9.30-10.30/11nap
2.30-3.30/4nap
7bed
(Lots of wakes during the night)

I have a baby that won't just doze off herself but will require white noise / routine to sleep. Because of this I didn't expect her to drop a nap naturally and so I had to alter her routine. I find she sleeps better in the day with two longer naps rather than 3 slightly shorter naps

BarryMcguigan · 05/06/2019 09:36

She will sleep in car or pram is its nap time and she's very tired (will get a less quality sleep in pram as lots of distractions) now I'm down to two naps I find getting out easier as I have a pretty reliable window from about 10.45-2.30. I put her down for her morning nap fully dressed and get ready maybe make a packed lunch whilst she sleeps. When she wakes up sometimes she's then immediately put in car or cot so we can maximise happy awake time!
