7 month old fighting naps

My LO is 7 months and has always been a great napper - he usually has 45mins-one hour in the morning, 2 hours in the afternoon and a cat nap late afternoon. He usually goes down for his first nap within 2 hours of waking no problem. But the past few days he has literally screamed the house down when I’ve been putting him down for his morning nap. This morning I got him back up and he’s currently happy playing. Is he perhaps going through a nap transition? Maybe he can go longer between naps? Any previous experience? He doesn’t seem tired at all and has been up for 2.5 hours now...

My just turned 8 month old was doing exactly the same thing so I’ve just extended her wake times so she doesn’t go down for her first nap until she’s been up around 3 hours which has helped and she now goes down for her naps pretty well
