Weaning off white noise...?

When did you stop using white noise? I currently use a non stop white noise device for every sleep at home and I know it was invaluable in the newborn days... but at 10 months am I putting it on for my own habit?! I don't really want to use it super long term as it's another piece of kit we're constantly lugging (and recharging batteries etc!)

Anyone faced similar? :)

My daughter had one of those light show musical mobiles to help her fall asleep. We stopped using it about 5 months ago. She's 8 years old . . .

Just keep using it until it doesn’t work. Why would you wean them off when it means you get sleep?!

Dd still loves white noise at 2.5, it’s no effort for me to put it on and it means we both sleep well.

My son had white noise overnight until he was 2years - we didn't try him without sooner so he might have been fine without. Currently 1 yr old enjoying the white noise overnight now!

@MustardScreams I'm just wondering if it's still useful (and yes I'm sure I can just try without it tonight) if it's still needed then absolutely no problem I'd use it forever. But after an impromptu sleepover and Nana's this weekend (and having to use a white noise app on my phone) I was curious to see when other parents stopped using it. I'm wondering if I'm putting it in out of my own habit now rather than baby needing it. I'm not planning to deprive baby of something she needs!

As an adult I use one every night- so not really helpful to your question, but it helps me sleep better and I don't see it as a detriment

We stopped around 10 months, I made it quieter first then stopped and there was no difference

I sleep with white noise as a 31 year old! I can’t sleep without it. I use an app on my phone.

My little one has white noise too. As a tiny baby, we used an old phone of mine we had licking around. Downloaded an app & left it on her chest of drawers. Now, we use an app on her Kindle.. same as my app actually. We both fall asleep to ‘rain on roof’ , it’s very relaxing!

I don’t see the harm other than make sure it’s not too loud or too close. Their little ears are quite sensitive!

I’m just starting to wean off white noise and Ds is 1 years old. Same as you I don’t want another thing to remember and he is of that age it’s starting to wake him. I’ve started lowering it and am only having it on 1-2hrs at bed time to drown out noise from his older brother at bedtime. Seems to be ok so far and he’s actually sleeping longer since I stopped having it on all night (as we were previously advised to have it on all night by sleep consultant)
