I'm looking for some advice, my 3 year old sleeps well at night, he goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps till 8:30am the following morning. Just lately he has been very grumpy and falling asleep in the afternoon, he sleeps for 2-3 hours in the afternoon and often starts falling alseep just before bedtime. He sleeps well at night and he never used to sleep in the afternoon at all. Now I'm worried he is sleeping too much and maybe I should take him to see our gp? I'm not sure just looking to see what everyone thinks and if anyone has ever experienced anything like this before. Thanks in advance.

It does seem like a lot of sleep. Is he eating and drinking ok. Do you think he might have a virus? Is he peeing and pooping ok? Is he alert when he is awake? Has he cut himself recently..is the cut healing without much redness? It might be worth calling the GP to see what they think

Could he be in the midst of a growth spurt?

He seems fine, he is eating and drinking well and in fact seems to be hungry all the time lately. No he isn't unwell and hasn't cut himself. He is his normal happy self when awake but seems to get tired quickly. He is peeing and pooping fine. Maybe he could he having a growth spurt but I'm not sure.

Sounds like a growth spurt to me.

Thank you for your replies, maybe it's just a growth spurt then, I will give it a few days and see if he goes back to normal.
