Tonight I've been trying to encourage my nearly 1yo to settle in the cot with me beside. She has got into such a state - so hysterical- I thought that by being right beside her at least she knows I'm not abandoning her! I don't like the idea of cio or cc methods but tonight I feel like I've been so cruel letting her just cry. She's all red in the face and it's been very traumatic. I've just resorted to picking her up and now she's fine. But all I've taught her is to be persistent and I'm sure it'll just get worse and worse.
How to do this???
