Trying to get an idea of what is normal... Mine still naps and does 12+ hours a night. None of her friends nap any more! I know I'm lucky to have the time... But starting to worry something might be up, she is constantly complaining of feeling tired too...

DS will be 4 in 3 months. He sleeps through 10-11 hours at night and most days doesn't nap in the day though he will fall asleep in the car (or in front of TV while I'm making tea...).

SoyDora · 25/05/2019 21:36

My 3 year old sleeps 11-12 hours a night. Hasn’t napped since before she was 2.

Dinosforall · 25/05/2019 21:39

Mine usually sleeps 8-7 . However, even a short nap during the day, however early, can push his bedtime back by up to 90mins Angry

DollyTots · 25/05/2019 21:39

My 3 year old naps for an hour during the day (she'd go for 2 if we let her) & sleeps 715/730pm-5am. Hoping things will change soon. Until recently she'd do 630-6 with a 1.5 hour nap

60secondfacetimer · 25/05/2019 21:43

My three year hasn't napped for over a year and will sleep 7-7 or 8-7.

mistermagpie · 25/05/2019 21:46

My nearly 4 year old sleeps about 11 hours a night. Hasn't napped since he was 2 and rarely complains of feeling tired unless he's been unusually active.

YouJustDoYou · 25/05/2019 21:50

Mine at the time did 7pm until 4am. Would nap for 30 mins a few times a day.

YouJustDoYou · 25/05/2019 21:51

Oh sorry, no naps 3 and waking at 5am

suchasoftersin · 25/05/2019 21:52

Mine sleeps 8-8 most nights and doesn't nap (hasn't since she was 2) but if we go out in the car she will nod off then in the day.

BillyAndTheSillies · 25/05/2019 21:53

DS will sleep 7:30-7:30 in the week and 7:30 until 8:30/9 of a weekend.

He's getting better without naps now but will often fall asleep in the car for an hour or so and go to two hours at nursery. But can't just put him down for a nap any more.

I miss the naps, but prefer the later starts in the morning.

Letthemysterybe · 25/05/2019 21:53

No naps for a loooooong time. Nighttime is 7-6ish on a good night.

Aria2015 · 25/05/2019 21:54

My lo will be 4 in a few months. He sleeps 12+ hours at night and naps 2 hours in the day. Lo also says he's tired a lot too. Like you it's great on one level but also worrying. He's nowhere near ready to drop his nap and he starts school in September eek!

frangipanny · 25/05/2019 22:17

Ah I was going to start a similar thread! My 3.5 yr old dd sleeps 8-6.30ish but still definitely needs a nap, for at least two hours! Sometimes she'll skip a day but generally she needs that daytime sleep whereas most of her peers have dropped it.

lentilslentilseverywhere · 26/05/2019 09:53

Thanks everyone! Really useful to have an idea what others are like and good to know others are still napping... I think the worrying thing is that she always seems tired despite having much more sleep than all her peers! But we do keep her busy so maybe this is normal Smile

I think it’s just that different children (like adults) need different amounts of sleep.
My 3 year old never sits down. She walks at least 4 miles a day (school/playschool runs), swims, goes to gymnastics class, goes to ballet class etc. She dropped her nap before she was 2 and needs 11-12 hours at night. She rarely complains of being tired.
My 5 year old does a similar amount but is obviously at school, she needs more sleep and if given the chance will have a lie in at weekends and needs more down time.

Emmabryant123 · 26/05/2019 18:37

3 years 3 months

11-13 hours overnight
No nap
