7 month old will only nap in his car seat

My 7 month old will only nap in his car seat, he won’t nap anywhere else in the day. Occasionally the pushchair, but won’t go down in his cot during the daytime at all. This means I spend most of my days driving around trying to get him to sleep, often I pull up somewhere for an hour as that’s how long he needs to sleep, otherwise he gets really whingey.
If we’re going somewhere like a playgroup, I have to set off early in order to find somewhere to stop and let him have a sleep first.
I’m conscious of the fact this isn’t good for long term prospects, especially since he’ll be in nursery two days a week when I go back to work in September. Plus I’m not sure how ideal sleeping in a car seat so often is.

He’s not a brilliant sleeper at night, but does sleep in his cot , even though he wakes multiple times.

If I do put him down asleep or awake in his cot during the day, he moans and whinges, then ends up crying hysterically until I go in and get him.

Any tips or advice?

You need to just bite the bullet and put him in a cot.

It'll be miserable at first but he'll get there. You can't keep driving around forever.

Could you attach the car seat to the pram frame and push him around till he falls asleep in that? Then switch to buggy in lie flat mode, then gradually reduce the amount of pushing you have to do?

I’m keeping mine in the buggy for naps until she drops to one nap a day - don’t want to be tied to the house too much.

Oh my God I thought I was the only one.

We can meet up and have car picnics.

Mine has now got worse and decided he needs me to keep driving. So I can stop for about 15 mins and then keep going for a bit.

No advise but I feel your pain.
