15 week old keeps waking

It would seem my baby is sleep regressing. He's 15 weeks old, corrected and wakes 45mins after being put down lately.

He usually falls asleep at the breast. I then hold him upright for 20 mins so he doesn't poset. DH says this is could be creating problems sleep wise but I'm not sure how to change it.

Tonight DS went to bed at 10pm as usual and woke by 11. Shushed him for 40mins but no effect. In the end, I changed his nappy (in case he'd pooed and that was the problem) and fed him (10 min breast feed. I figure if I try not to feed him he'll only wake hungry in an hour it two).

A lot of the sleep regression stuff online seems to have the undertone that people bring this on themselves. Makes feel like a useless mum.

Anyone got any tried and tested tips, or is it just a matter of riding it out?

Thanks in advance xxxxx

The four month sleep regression was brutal with both of mine. It's unlikely to be anything you're doing - just baby brain development. It does pass though. Out was the point with my first where I have in and brought him into bed with me though!

Ha! Good luck with that! Mine is three in October and is still up about four times a night.

And yeah I’ve read every sleep training book going.

The one thing I will say is that one sleep cycle is 45 mins, as we get older we learn to put ourselves in to the next and then the next and so on. Sounds like your baby is waking up after one sleep cycle. Wake to sleep worked with dd2, so after 30 mins I would gently disturb her but not enough to wake her up and she would naturally go in to the next cycle.

Dd3 is a different kettle of fish. Slept great till we took her in holiday at nine months and it’s been shite since!
