Hello, This is my first post, I havent used a forum before.
I really need some help and getting desperate. My babe is 7 months old and wakes up around 1:15 every night for about 2 hours.
I have tried everything I can think of to put him back to sleep.
When we wakes up it is like he wakes up wanting playtime. He starts to murmur, chat to himself then after about an hour starts to cry and so on.
I have tried.....
1- leaving him to chat it out hoping he will go back to sleep.
2- giving him a dummy.
3- teething gel and changing bum.
4 - leaving him until the crying stage then crying it out, he still doesnt go to sleep.
5 - picking him up for a cuddle then putting him down. With this he will sleep in my arms but as soon as put down wakes back up.
6- Patting and shushing.
7- putting something in him cot to block him from moving and rolling over.

The only thing that seems to work is him coming in bed with me, which I have eventually done after 2 hours but dont want this to be a habit!

He hasn't had a night feed for about 6-8 weeks so I know for dedinate it isnt food.
About 8 weeks ago when I cut out his night food he did start going through the night but it was always on and off.. 3 days he would 2 days he wouldn't, 2 days he would 1 day he wouldnt. Something like that, which I could never work out. But this last week, nearly 2 he has woken doing the above everynignt.

I am finding this harder than when I was up 3 times a night feeding him. At least then I knew what to do. With this I am lost! I feel like I am alone and the only one going though it as everyone I speak to at baby groups their babies who doesnt have a night feed seems to sleep.

If someone else has had/having the same problem and could share some light I would be massively grateful. Thank you. X

They do go through various sleep regressions and changes. My 10 month old used to sleep through prob until about 8 months then started waking around 2am. He wanted milk so I started doing a feed again. It won't last forever but don't rules that out as a cause! Unfortunately their sleep can be very volatile and changes at various points

I'd also say If having him in bed with you works for now just go with it. It won't become a habit and you do what you need to do to get sleep and get through these stages.

Have you googled sleep regressions? You might find it useful and comforting thy it happens to pretty much everyone! Xx

Seven months is still quite young to be going through the night without a feed and it’s possible he’s having a growth spurt. If he’s waking you anyway is it worth trying feeding him? A full tummy might get him back to sleep quicker.
