Sleeping through the night

I've been super lucky as my baby has slept through the night from a very early age but once he started teething and his first few teeth came through he's getting up at 5am for a feed. He's been doing this about 2 months I tried everything before feeding him as he hasn't had a bottle in the night (apart from odd occasion) since being 3 months but the only thing I find settles him is a bottle.

As soon as I hear him on the monitor I wait to see if he will settle back down (sometimes does) but I can tell from his cry he isn't so I quickly feed him and only change his nappy if it's bursting. Have I made a rod for my own back by accidentally introducing a feed in the night again? He's slept through 4 times in the past 2 months. I want to try and drop it but I'm not sure if he's genuinely hungry (very greedy baby) or if it's more routine now?

Thanks

How old is he now?
Most babies get hungry in the night...
Is he waking at 5am for a feed, or earlier? Then going back to sleep? If so, count your blessings!

If he has slept more than 6 hours straight that would be sleeping through in my book.
Growing and learning and being cute is hungry work! Grin

5am was the start of the day for us for 2 years! I don't think you can count 5am as a night feed tbh.

I wouldn’t class 5am as a night feed either. That’s a morning feed. If he wants a bottle then feed him.

My 5 year old always got up at 5 am and still does despite trying everything to get him to sleep later!

Yes shouldn't be referring to it as a 'night feed' the reason I'm calling it that is as he doesn't get up until 9 sometimes later and always has done since he slept through (7-9) he would not be ready to start the day at 5am (tried it) he really likes his sleep I was just wondering if it was me that's introduced an extra feed where he didn't actually need it and just fed to sleep as he was in pain with his teeth and now it's just habit?

  • Btw this is not me whinging about getting up early and getting broken sleep I'm fully aware from friends and family I'm very lucky! -

When asking for advice I'm getting half of 'this shouldn't be happening he doesn't need feeding now if he didn't need it at 3 months' and equally 'if he's hungry feed him he obviously needs it'

I know routines change all the time and as a first time mum every days a school day!
