Baby and toddler

Baby hasn't been born yet but I'm super nervous as I keep being told how hard it will be with 3 children.
My 2 year old can take a while to self settle at night, he doesn't cry just bangs around his bed before falling asleep. He sleeps
Without waking in the night. He shares with his older brother. Basically has a newborn disturbed your toddler sleep, for example waking them in the night when crying? If so what steps did you put in place to help prevent it? I'm worried about lack of sleep with 2 crying children which will then affect my eldest as they share a room. So no one in the house would have any sleep.

Depends if your toddler is a light sleeper. I have a newish born and a toddler and the baby had colic and screamed the house down from about 8pm to 10pm, my toddler never woke up! I now sleep with baby in the same room as the toddler and whenever baby cries ( not too often now), the toddler never wakes up

It depends on the child. I had to heavily rely on white noise for my other kids to block out the baby/each other crying, especially my oldest as whilst at times he was a deep sleeper, if he did get woken up he would be extremely difficult to settle. However middle one was easier and didn't often get woken, mostly thanks to the blanket of white noise.

I'm hoping it may not be an issue then, he seems to be a lighter sleeper in the morning but actually at night can sleep through a bit.
What did you use for white noise for your others?

I was worried about this too as our ds is the lightest sleeper you could imagine, literally a pin drop would wake him.

However not once did he wake up in the night due to our newborn crying and my word she was loud Grin
