When did you start putting baby down for a nap?

Hi, just wondering exactly that? Our 8 week old DD tends to just nap where ever she falls asleep such as whilst feeding, laying under play mat or in the car as and when. But I'm wondering when and whether I should start taking her up to her crib and and particular times of the day and get her into a routine? Or do I continue to let her nap where ever and whenever until she's a little older? TIA.

Not until it became obvious that she was napping at the same times each day, about 4-5 months I think

Thanks, maybe I'm worrying about it a little too early!

I'm awful at this, my daughter fell in to a nap schedule st around 5 months... it was at 8 months I started putting her in her cot...

I love the snuggles!

My DD is 5 months and I’ve been putting her down for naps for about a month or so. She can only really deal with being awake for 2 hours max before she gets grumpy and whinges so I just put her down every 2 hours or so. She only cat naps at the moment though so only naps for around 30 mins. Has about 4 30 min naps per day up in her cot or in the pram/car if we are out and about. Your baby will develop their own pattern/routine so just be guided by baby.

Thanks guys. I did all of this with my 6yo ds but that all seems so long ago and I can't remember! I'll give her a few more weeks yet then.

I haven't yet and he's nearly 13 months. Got fed up of the battle so he naps on me, in the car or the buggy.
He's just started nursery three full days a week and they seem to have the magic touch of getting him to sleep in a cot.
When he's at home with me he can still nap on me, it's a good excuse to put my feet up for an hour.
I stopped beating myself up about it when he was about six months old.

When you say “put them down” do you mean get them to sleep at a particular time, or actually physically put them down? Because my son had regular naptimes, or rather, I would encourage him to sleep after a certain amount of time awake, from 5mo ish, but he would usually absolutely refuse to be put down when asleep so naps were on me or in a carrier, or in the car. I could put down him in the cot regularly from 7mo ish

Started putting him in his snuzepod for most naps at about 3 months before that he’d sleep on me or in his swing/pram.

Used an app called huckleberry which gave me a good guide for awake time/ when to put him down so he would settle well. Now 5.5 months and self settles for most naps and we have a good routine which came very naturally.

I put them in the carrycot till about 4 months then into the cot.
