My nearly 8 month old has always been really good at self settling, until Monday this week. He has bath then bottle and bed, he will be sleepy feeding and go to sleep first transfer then He screams blue murder if we try and leave the room and if we leave once he's asleep he will wake up within 5-10 minutes screaming again, this carries on for the whole night although the gaps between wake ups lengthen to around an hour. He will self settle absolutely fine for day naps it's just at night. Any advice much appreciated xx

Hard to tell but I’d be thinking separation anxiety.
In the day presumably he can see where he is in his room when he wakes, maybe hear you moving around in the house or talking on the phone or the tv. At night is it quieter? Might he think he’s all alone?

Thanks @Polly99. Tonight i sat by his cot until he fell asleep (after 45 mins of trying without being in the room just coming in when he cried) and he's stayed asleep since so I think you're right in the separation anxiety. Hopefully it's just a phase as dont want him to only fall asleep in the future by be sitting there for ages x
