9 month old naps

My 9 month old still has three naps a day but I'm convinced he still desperately needs them. Should I be trying to reduce? In order to do this wouldn't his first two naps need to be longer and how the hell am I meant to achieve this? ☹️
Sleep feels like such a mess, I don't even know what I'm doing anymore!

Our day atm roughly looks like this:

6:30 - wake up (crying as if not ready to)
8:30 - first nap (40 minutes in the sling)
12:00 - lunch nap (40 minutes in cot)
3:00 - third nap (40 minutes in the sling, at times this can be as long as an hour and I let him go for as long as he needs because the others are so short)

Our nights aren't great, he wakes a lot. What am I doing wrong? I've tried lengthening and shortening awake times but that didn't make a difference. Feels like he's been ill or teething for over a month now which might the reason but I'm not sure how to know for certain.

I'm tired of being tired. ☹️ Any advice or solidarity very welcome!
