Do GroClocks work?

My 2 year old used to be an awesome sleeper. He'd go down around 7:30/8ish and wake up around 7 the next morning, with a solid nap midday, if not two naps.

About 3 weeks ago he figured out how to climb out of his cot, and since then has been a horrible sleeper! We moved him to a toddler bed hoping that would help. He wakes in the middle of the night and is up super early every morning. And naps are a thing of the past.

I have been recommended the Gro Clock by a few people, but he doesn't listen to me at the best of times, so I'm skeptical about him paying attention to a clock to see when he can get up.

Does anyone have experience with a Gro Clock and toddler, and did it work for them?

We got one for DS1 and it did not work at all but then hauled it out of storage for DS2 and it works brilliantly because he responds really well to visual signs. I think it depends on the child. Maybe get a second hand one of ebay to try?

We got one when ds was 2 as he started waking around 5am and it was a god send.

As long as you use it as instructed, so set it to start with at the time he wakes (even if it’s 5am) then gradually keep adding 5 more minutes. Plus reading them the storybook that comes with it helps too.

We still use it now and ds is 5 and it still works for us.

It did/ does work for us but we need additional reinforcements too. Started with a treat every morning if she slept all night with no shouting out and waited till the sun came up (we pulled out the big guns and started with a kinder egg- very unmumsnet) then gradually the treats get smaller / longer term or forgotten all together. Every 6 months so or so we had to go back to the beginning, treat wise but she was SO bad before that it's worth it for me. Blush

No use whatsoever. Before I figured out how to lock it DS would just press buttons until the sun appeared (even at 3am). Now he just ignores it (although he is triumphant on the odd fluke time he sleeps until the sun comes up. On which mornings I’m pretty sure it wakes him up, which seems counterproductive!)

Thanks everyone! Seems like such mixed reviews! Maybe I'll hold out a little longer and use it as a last resort! I'm hoping it's just his teeth working their way in and that he'll go back to sleeping through soon 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
