Help moving to big cot!

My DD is 18 weeks and currently sleeps in a next to me crib in our room. She sleeps great at night. She was having her day time sleeps in the carry cot on the pram but she’s outgrown this now. I decided that as we will be moving her into her own room overnight in the next month or so that I’d start doing day time naps up there now to start getting her used to it.
It isn’t going well! Even if I know she’s tired she just won’t settle in the big cot. The minute I put her in the bedside one she’s asleep within 5 mins. I can move her once she’s asleep into the big one and she’ll stay asleep but I am yet to actually get her to fall asleep in the cot. Any ideas?!

Have you got baby sleeping bags maybe feeling wrapped up a little will help ,that and just stay with her till she falls asleep.I would stroke my daughters back to get her to settle

Watching this with interest as we are soon transitioning!

She sleeps in a sleeping bag at night rosydreams I haven’t been using during the day though as it’s part of bedtime routine and I thought it might confuse her? Wasn’t sure if I need to get her to differentiate day from night?! I have no idea though lol!

maybe that's why she isn't napping though it so tricky with baby's knowing what to do.It can be a lot of trial and error =/

At this age you don’t need to teach her to differentiate between day and night but you might need to teach her when it’s time to sleep. She associates the next to me with sleep but the cot is new and exciting and she doesn’t yet know that she’s meant to sleep in it.

I would try putting her in a sleeping bag and maybe put her in the next to me in the same room as the cot at first so she starts getting used to being in that room. If you have any other bedtime things like a song, white noise or book then it might help to try them at naptime too.

Alternatively you could just put her in the next to me for naps and do the cot transition all in one go when you’re ready to put her in it at night. That might be less confusing for her.
