Co-sleeping

Controversial topic here, but I’d be interested in tips for co-sleeping. My 5 day old baby sleeps fine in the day in carrycot, car seat, bouncer. But at night will only settle on me. I resulted to sleeping in a chair with him so breast feeding was easier but this is a no no. Midwife recommended co-sleeping so I can breast feed laying down if need be. How do others do this?

I had a similar experience, I tried this out last week and I didn't get on with side feeding at night as I tended to be unintentionally lazy and just give her the nipple but it did make my little girl sleep longer. I didn't like staying in one position all night either. Now she comes in the bed but is at a bit of a distance from me rather than being on me. I don't mind her coming in for a couple of hrs in the morning however. She now goes between sleeping in my bed or in her next to me crib
