Sleep regression experiences

Going through this with DD and wondered if people would like to share their experiences with the 4 month sleep regression - how long it lasted, how their baby reacted, whether sleep went back to normal afterwards or what they did if it didn't fix itself...

Would be interested to know when it started for people too. My son is 16 weeks tomorrow and not sleeping too badly at the moment (usually two feeds per 11 hour night) so I’m dreading it all going to pot again!

I am in the midst of it. My baby is 17 weeks old and has been waking up every 1.5-2.5 hours for over a month now, with the occasional slightly longer spell. This is from a baby that slept soooo well up to that point.....to the point I felt I was getting more sleep than before he was born.

The last couple of nights there were a few 3 hour stretches....and after his third set a jabs a 5 hour stretch. I don’t want to jinx it though. I had been staying in and rigidly setting nap times....that’s not practical though, I can’t stwy in all day forever!

He self settles when he first goes to bed (if he’s no overtired), which I read is meant to be the answer. In the night he will occasionally settle himself to sleep, but more often than not he carries on and I have to feed him to sleep. At one point I was spending an hour here and there trying to get him to settle without a feed, and I was weighing up getting sleep myself or trying to persevere with not always going down the feeding to sleep route. White noise has occasionally done the trick,

All the best!

@darkstar4855 DD is 20 weeks and her sleep has been awful for at least a month, but has got much worse in the last week with 45 minute wake ups during what was once her only long stretch of sleep (7 - 11)

@chester1980 I wish DD would be fed to sleep- she's wide awake and I have to wait 2 hours till she's tired enough to sleep again. Even then she only does half hour catnaps so it hardly feels worth the effort. Fingers crossed it's coming to an end for you!
