Just after some advice please.
There’s a few things I need to change to do with 4 month old DD’s sleep and I don’t know which one to start with, or if I should just change everything at the same time and maybe get the hideousness over faster.
Firstly, she’s a long baby and fast outgrowing her Moses basket so I need to get her into her cot ASAP. Her cot will still be in my room but due to space it needs to be in a different location at the end of my bed rather than next to it.
Secondly, she looks like she’s getting so close to rolling from her back to her tummy so I need to get her out of her woombie swaddle ASAP too
Thirdly, I think I need to get rid of her dummy as she’s gone from sleeping from about 10pm to 6am before wanting it, to waking up and wanting it from 3am onwards every 5 minutes to half an hour. Part of me is hopeful that maybe if her arms are free she’ll suck on her hands for comfort instead but I’m fully aware that is very wishful thinking. Also, until very recently she’s needed the dummy to help with her reflux pain, that seems better now but if it gets worse again and I have to reintroduce it then another part of me I might as well keep it for now.
So, what would you do first, and gradual or cold turkey? Or would you change everything at the same time and accept that sleep will probably be even worse for me for a possibly very long while but hopefully come out better on the other side?
She has her last bottle of the day at 8.30 and then no more til her morning feed at 8.30 - with the frequent wakings I have offered milk to see if she needs night feeds again but she’s just not interested
