Does starting nursery affect sleep?

Or rather, how badly does starting nursery affect sleep? My little one starts tomorrow and I’m wondering whether her sleep will be negatively disrupted due to separation anxiety or perhaps get better as she gets more tired. Any positive or negative experiences? Thank you!

My ds has been in two days a week for a couple of months now. He sleeps like a log when he gets home, it just wears him out so much. Part of it is he doesn't nap well at nursery, hes too interested in playing to sleep, so is always shattered when he gets home.

How old is she? And how does she usually nap? Mine had a couple of rough days until she got the hang of napping there. She got over it pretty city though

I think it really depends. DS's sleep got worse for a couple of months because he wasn't napping properly. Youd expect that would make sleep bettwr - but he was then so tired at the end of the day he wouldn't eat much dinner at all. Hunger was then waking him at night. They do settle in though, once he eventually started napping properly nights were if anything better on nursery days as it tired him out so much.
