is i normal for a 10 day old baby to sleep through the night
he is perfectly healthy and active during the day - he is breast fed at about 10.30 and goes down about 11 and then does not wake until 5.30
should i be waking him?

Make the most of it! At this age 6 hours is "sleeping through" and yours seems to have got the hang of it quickly.

As long as he is alert at some times and feeding well he should be fine.

Try to build the routine around this natual sleep time so he gets used to doing the long sleep in the night. Never too early to do a bed time routine but if bfing still do that on demand to build your supply. Try to learn his cues to tell when he is tired in the day and put him down for a nap straight away, I made the mistake of thinking that if I kept her awake she would sleep better at night - big mistake! She was so overtired she would not settle.

was just a little concerned that i should be waking him to feed but i guess he would let me know if he was hungry
am feeding on demand during the day and putting him down for regular, if short, naps during the day
thanks for the advice
