My baby hasn't been a great sleeper from the start - but as she is my 3rd I had made me peace with this. But the last few weeks she has been poorly - bronchiolitis first then a sick bug 5 days ago. So now she has gone back to serious cat napping in the day (usually in the bouncer!), extremely difficult to settle to bed and waking God know how many times a night - the other day it was hourly.

I comforted myself that when she felt better it would get better, but now she has started flipping to her tummy in the night. Not a problem in itself...But I still swaddled and put her dummy in... So now it seems a bit dangerous (even though she has a strong neck and can hold it up well). I literally have no idea how to transition out if swaddling as I didn't really have to do it consciously with my other 2. If I put her down for a nap with her arms out, she just goes crazy grabbing everything (including her face) then gets over tired and screams/ cries until I wrap her up again and pop her dummy in.

Basically.... Help!!

You could try swaddling with just one arm out and see if that helps her adjust. Mine will only sleep if swaddled and I am dreading him learning to roll over for this reason!

Hi Darmstadt, sorry i didn't see you had replied. I tried doing it with one arm out for a nap and after 20 mins managed to get her to go to sleep (lots of going back in and rocking etc) but when intried again for her 2nd nap she was so hysterical about it I stopped and swaddled her and she went straight off. Currently sat up bouncing her in her rocker and have been on and off for the past 1.5hrs as she keeps waking every time I leave the room or put her in her cot. Feel like the sleep is getting worse and worse. She is over whatever bug she had but still has a cough from her bronchiolitis. Not sure how long I can keep getting up every 2 hours through the night when I have a 2 year old and 5 year old to take care of too!!

I have no helpful suggestions but another one here struggling to get 6.5 month old DD out of the swaddle. Fortunately she hasn't ever rolled onto her front but we've tried taking one arm out a number of times in anticipation never with success.

I've ordered something called a zipadee zip (stupid name) and am hoping that is the solution otherwise I think we'll still be swaddling her at 18! She's poorly at the moment though so it is all on hold anyway.
