Co-sleeping crib with parents' mattress on floor?

Hello all! I'm currently expecting my first baby and looking for advice on a co-sleeping crib for a newborn.

Our bedroom is a low-ceilinged attic room so we currently just have the mattress on the floor with a slatted bed base underneath (like this one). I'm really keen to co-sleep but am worried that most of the co-sleeping cribs are designed to attach to a bed frame, and many of them don't go much lower than 40cm (our mattress is about 30cm off the floor).

One concern I have is the big mattress (which just sits on top of the slats) shifting around slightly and causing a gap, even if we do manage to attach the crib to the slats. I've also thought that if I have a c-section and don't want to have to get up from such a low bed then we'll sleep on our guest bed downstairs, which is a Hemnes day bed and so doesn't have a traditional frame either.

Does anyone have any experience / recommendations? Any advice much appreciated! Smile
