Nearly two year old awake ALL night

Hello please. DD is nearly two and most evenings she has her bath/story/warm milk and goes down (self settles) in her cot with her music playing within 15 mins of me putting her to bed. Bedtime is between 7.30 and 8.30 depending how tired she seems. So at first she's an angel with going to bed.

Unfortunately she then wakes about 1-2am and will not go back to sleep! She shrieks and screams blue murder. I do the super nanny thing of keeping lights low and not speaking to her, give her back her dummy and cloth and lie her back down but she just immediately stands up and screams the house down.

Im try not to give her milk in the night anymore, most of the time she won't drink it anyway just plays with it. She's wide awake when she does wakes, I've tried sitting with her, ignoring her and rapid return. She's not unwell and she has all her teeth now.

I spent last night sitting on the sofa watching Peppa Pig as she dozed. Every time I put her back into her cot she screamed again. I don't normally remove her from the bedroom but I just couldn't handle the screeching last night.

Ideas or help please?

Never, ever, ever take her downstairs OP. She's a clever girl who's worked out that if she screams, she gets you plus entertainment.

I'd try the No Fry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and a Preschoolers. It's more evidence based than the Supernanny books Smile

Will she sleep in bed with you?

OnlyYellowRoses · 17/02/2019 08:53

I normally am really strict on the not leaving the bedroom for night waking and usually it works but last night I was so exhausted and just wanted her to stop screaming. Will check out the link though thank you 😊

No unfortunately won't sleep in my bed.

Could she be poorly?

Smoggle · 17/02/2019 08:56

How much is she napping in the day?

OnlyYellowRoses · 17/02/2019 09:02

She's not poorly. No signs of any illness or infections.

She has an hour nap about 11am usually.

Sorry for the spelling mistakes in the original post by the way 🤦🏼‍♀️ You can tell I'm knackered today!
