HELP! Four month sleep regression!

My LO is 4 months next week. Up until the past 2 weeks he has been sleeping really well, we've had the same bed time routine since he was 4 weeks old (even if he didn't follow it then lol). He has a bath around 8, a bottle usually 7/8oz, then goes down in his next to me crib and sleeps 8.30-4.30, woke for a feed, then went back down until 8am(ish). But over the past two weeks he has followed the start of his bedtime routine, asleep for 8.30, then up again at 12,3,5ish then up for the day at 7.30! This is killing me! Me and my partner are constantly at each other's throats because of it because it's so new to us! Just need some advice. Don't know whether we need to change our bedtime routine? About a week ago we moved him onto hungrier baby milk to see if it filled him more but made no difference! At every wake up he drinks a good 6oz of milk so clearly needs it! I'm new to mums net and limited to people to talk to about it so I'm struggling! Does anyone have any advice or stories of surviving sleep regression? Thank you! P.s sorry if this message doesn't make sense! I'm tired! ConfusedSmile xx

No advice going through the same thing. We're into week 5! The only way we changed the routine was to gradually made bed time earlier. Dds first sleep has improved we're now getting 3 -3.5 hours rather then 2 but then it goes to pot and we're down to 2 or 1 hours at a time until morning. I'm trying to stay positive knowing it will eventually pass (I hope)

It does get better, I had no idea about sleep regression until it nearly killed me! After about a month I decided to take dummy away and do some gentle sleep training as I was running on 2-3 hours sleep. At now six month s old my DD goes to sleep at half seven and sleeps until 6/7 with either one or if I’m lucky no wake ups. Hang in there!

What is daytime sleep like? How much does he have to eat in the day?

DD2 is going through this just now as well. DP and I remembered the 4 month sleep regression well and were dreading doing it again.

DD2 is about 5 weeks in now and we went from 1 or 2 wake ups to upwards of 7 per night. Sometimes as little as 45 minutes in between. It is horrific and has been compounded by DD1 and DD2 both having chicken pox (of course, at different times). Saying this 2 nights ago DD2 did a 4 hour stretch, which hadn’t happened for about a month!

I remember about 5-6 weeks in DD1 just started to come out of it. I’d done nothing to help her, she just started to sleep better! The one thing I was trying with DD2, which the chicken pox ruined, was working on good naps. I’ve read other places that sleep begets sleep and it is easier to work on naps first, so this had been my focus and hopefully we’ll be back on that this week.

Just try and accept that it will be shit for awhile. If there are things you’d like to work on then try some gentle sleep training around that. Not sure if it really works but I like to feel like maybe I’m helping to improve the situation, even if I’m not!
