I dunno what has happened to DD. She used to wake frequently for her dummy (anywhere between twice a night and every 30 mins all night long...). So we are used to very interrupted sleep! But the past week she has been waking and hysterically screaming a few times a night, and often needing to take her out of the cot and hold and rock her and taking like an hour for screaming before she settles to sleep again. We've tried milk - she won't have any, apart from one night she had 5oz so I guess she was hungry that time but the others she won't drink any, she clearly just wants to sleep. We've tried Calpol, Nurofen, Dentinox all at various wakings, none have made any difference. She's not too hot or too cold. She has no teeth. She doesn't have a cold or anything. On Thursday night she didn't do it and I thought the phase had passed but she did it again Friday night about 3 times in the first portion of the night. It's always worst the first half of the night too so that's another reason I don't think it's hunger. Last night was the worst yet. We put her to bed (asleep) at 8.15pm which is within realms of normal time. She woke hysterical at 9.15 and wasn't settled to sleep til 10pm screaming til she was exhausted whilst we paced the room with her. She woke again at 10.15pm but was settled within 15 minutes of like rocking her belly in her cot. Up again at 11.15pm and same as above. Up at 12.15am and needed pacing around the room again til settled in bed at 12.45am. up at 1.15am and again needed pacing round for 15mins ish. Then she slept til 4.30am, again needed pacing around for about 15mins. Then she woke at 6.06am happily talking to herself which is what she normally does when she's ready to get up for the day, however I left her a few mins and she actually just fell asleep herself anyway. Then up screaming again at 7.12am so I just got her up for the day then.
She's always cried loads in the daytime but not usually bad on a night. It's awful because we feel so helpless too as she's so distressed and nothing we do makes any difference :(
