What do you class as waking up early??

My DD nearly 6 and a half months usually wakes for the day at six, sometimes 5 (we get her back to sleep) sometimes quarter past seven (heaven) when she wakes at six I sometimes bring her in with me and try an get her back asleep, normally within 20 mins she’s back asleep for an hour or so. I’m just wondering if that’s a bit mean and I should just get up with her at six, she doesn’t cry or I certainly would get up and feed her. Just wondering what everyone’s classes as an early riser??

Depends

What time is bedtime for your DD and for you?
What time do you NEED to get up?

My DS was always a 7am waker, but when I changed my job we had to be up and out of the house by 8am - so we brought it forward to allow enough time to get ready.

I think if your baby will go back to sleep at 6am then I would do that! My dc are 3 and 5 and I count anything before 6.30 as too early and they come in with us for a snooze. It's pretty usual for my dc to wake up that early though so I count myself very lucky.

Anything before 5.30am.

Tumilnaughts · 07/02/2019 19:57

Well I wake up around 6 am everyday anyway so anything before then is too early.

Sometimes I have to get up around 530 for work. But I prefer if the kids can sleep until at least 7 (my DH will be at home with them & drop them to school) because I won't collect them til 6pm from wraparound

InDubiousBattle · 07/02/2019 20:01

That should say unusual for them to get up so early!

moreismore · 07/02/2019 20:02

Pre 5am. But it’s not unknown for my son to be up for the day between 4.30 and 5. If I could get him back to sleep I most definitely would!!!

If not having to wake up for school/work I would consider anything before 7 early. And send dd back to bed. Mostly works. She's 3.

PippilottaLongstocking · 07/02/2019 20:06

Anything before 6, on a normal day (ie not setting off for holiday etc) I’ll get out of bed at 6 if I have to but not before that.

neversleepagain · 07/02/2019 20:08

Before 7am is considered early in this house.

WanderingDaffodil · 07/02/2019 20:09

My body says any time before 9.30 in winter but life unfortunately disagrees with this.

I think 6 is a fairly 'normal' time to wake up but if she goes back to sleep go with it!

thatsmyspace · 07/02/2019 20:17

Anytime before 6am is still the middle of the night to me 🙈

anxiousbundle · 07/02/2019 20:51

6am is early for me Grin

I wish I was a morning person who got up at 6 and did a workout etc but I just can't do it!

Sleeplikeasloth · 08/02/2019 01:27

For me, anything before 8, but I am not a morning person!

Gillian1980 · 09/02/2019 00:29

Before 7 is an absolute no for me.... Preferably not before 8 really.

DD is 3 and before 7 she gets told it’s still night time and back to bed - she usually chooses a book and reads.

Between 7-8 she can either play or read in her room or quietly watch cartoons in our room and have a cuddle while we doze.

I think if they are able to go back to sleep then absolutely go for it!
