I think I’m going mad! It takes ages! I don’t know if I’m just being impatient. Dd is on autism spectrum so that obviously creates obstacles and everything takes a while.

But from say, having bath, getting ready for bed, story, fall asleep, how long does it usually take in your household?

Dd is 8

Thanks!

3 year old - just under an hour i think.
bath running at 7pm, in the 5 mins it takes to fill i get the bedroom ready and pjs out and dd undressed. 15-20 mins in bath and a play/chat then 5ish mins dry or a few more if hair needs dried and pjs on and into bed then maybe 20 min for reading and fall asleep.

InDubiousBattle · 04/02/2019 20:39

45 minutes or so, dc are 3.6 and 5. Quick bath, into pj's , watch some c Beebies bedtime story, teeth, bed, read a couple of books then lights out.

Drogosnextwife · 04/02/2019 20:41

5 year old and 10 year old, from start to actual sleeping anywhere from 30 no.s to 2 hours. Depense how long they take to fall asleep. The 10 year old is worse for calling me back.

creativeusername · 04/02/2019 20:52

Kids are 2 and 4. About 45 minutes. In the bath for 6.15 until about 6.35. Dry and into pjs by 6.50 then cuddles and a story and tucked in at 7pm.

Bloo22 · 04/02/2019 20:54

About an hour and half. DS and 6 and 5, so I run the bath at around half 6, and get them in. It takes half an hour to bath them quickly and then I’ll dry them and get their pyjamas on and we’ll read a story, but they take a while to settle down

opalescent · 04/02/2019 20:57

My 6 year old is a dream- once bathed, he goes to bed (and to sleep) in seconds.
My 2 year old takes an hour on average.

SoyDora · 04/02/2019 20:59

5 and 3 here, on a bath night it takes about half an hour. 10-15 mins if no bath.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 04/02/2019 21:03

Bath after school at around 3.30/4pm,dinner then bedtime at 7 takes around 10 mins.Teeth brushed, toilet, take him up have kisses and cuddle say goodnight.Ds is 4

Stuckforthefourthtime · 04/02/2019 21:05

About an hour, 4 DCs aged 7, 5, 2, 5 months. The 5 year old is the wild card, he hates going to bed so is always finding ways to extend it, and co-opts the 2 year old into helping him.
I'm usually alone so the 7 year old showers while the younger 3 bathe (baby just in and out in my arms then kicks on a mat), all do teeth, then a pyjama race, then books for the younger and lights out at 7 while the eldest goes downstairs reads to himself for a bit.
Then middle two in bed, baby and I go downstairs and I feed him to sleep while playing a game or doing homework with ds1 (so his bedtime is technically longer than an hour, but is only an hour of actually getting to bed, iyswim)
Then DH arrives home and I collapse exhausted while he gives ds1 a good night kiss and settles the sleeping baby.

Jackshouse · 04/02/2019 21:06

About 90 mins but sometimes longer if she is tired. DD is nearly 3.

TulipsInbloom1 · 04/02/2019 21:09

Into a bath at 6pm, 15 mins each (two dcs). Both into pyjamas for 6.30. Cartoon on. Small supper (toast/cereal/yoghurt/fruit). Up to bed after teeth and toilet at 7. Quick story for both of them in one room, then dd(7) gets 30 mins read time herself, and ds(4) can choose to look at a book if he wants but usually just says no and light out.

We don't linger.

IMissGin · 04/02/2019 21:10

Not very long!

I don’t bath them every night for a start... 2-3 times a week (including shower after swimming on Sunday)

Nappy change & Milk for 2yo, pjs on for both, watch 30mins of ‘bedtime hour’, read a story, teeth, pop 2yo in cot. 7yo does everything herself with a bit of supervision just a 5min tuck in and cuddle.

cheesepretzel · 04/02/2019 21:12

Ha! If it makes you feel any better, mine is around 3 hrs for 2, a 4 & 6 yr old. 4 yr old used to be fine but twigged that i sat with older sibling so now have to do the same for him.....oldest takes an age to settle and get to sleep but can't do it on her own, I have tried many many times. It's shit tbh. I feel your pain.

bananallamaz · 04/02/2019 21:30

My 3 year old takes 15-20 minutes. 30 on a very bad day.

We don't have bath as a part of the routine because I don't see the need to bath him every night, though that might change as he gets older. But essentially it's upstairs into pj's, teeth brushed and use the toilet, 1 story then kiss and cuddle and lights out. Like a military operation.

Sometimes it's 2 stories if agreed earlier in the day (because he ate all his tea or something). Sometimes he needs coaxing upstairs if he's got a bit too much energy left but I don't mess around, if he decided to have a paddy then I leave and tell him to be quiet for 5 minutes then I'll come back, if he's not quiet he doesn't get a story. Usually does the trick, if not then after 10 minutes of whinging I tag out and send DH up. Then it's not my problem!

neversleepagain · 04/02/2019 21:32

Two 6 year olds.

Showers, pyjamas, school reading, milk, teeth, bedtime stories in about 1h15.

itsboiledeggsagain · 04/02/2019 21:35

they like to wallow in the bath for up to an hour. we do that a couple of times a week.

it takes 30 mins to get them all changed, teeth story bed.

it takes a further 30 mins or so for them to fall asleep.

3 dc 3,5,6 yo

needsleepzzz · 04/02/2019 21:36

2 and half year old, if having a bath then maybe 45 minutes, without a bath 10-15 minutes. Change nappy, into pj's, into bed, story, good night kisses, light off

Unihorn · 04/02/2019 21:37

Approximately 7 hours with two children under 2 Grin my 8yo DSD takes herself to bed though, sometimes has a story.

user1533903238 · 04/02/2019 22:01

Bath about 5:45, out bath 6ish. Watches a bit of CBeebies and has a yoghurt, then in to pjs, teeth brush and up to bed about 6:40. We do 2 stories in bed then she tells me about her day (which takes a couple of mins) then lamp off and cuddle down (I stay in the bed to cuddle her) and when then sneak off when she’s asleep which is most nights 7 on the dot. She is 2.5. This bedtime routine has developed over the last 6 months, prior to that she would always breastfeed to sleep and I would take half an hour to fall asleep (she naturally stopped feeding to sleep and we progressed to current routine, wasn’t anything I particularly implemented).

Queenfreak · 04/02/2019 22:08

Just under 2 year old. We do bath, boob, books ,bed.
Up for bath at 615 if she's having one, or up to get changed at 630.
Milk, 2 stories, into grobag, songs and then into bed. She's usually asleep between 7-715.

Blossom4538 · 05/02/2019 12:23

Thanks all!

30 to 40 mins for my 4 year old. He has teeth brushed, tries for the toilet, has a shower, into PJs, story, song, lights out.
