I really need help. My 9 month old went from occasional to now nightly wakes whereby he stays fully awake for 2 to 3 hours every night, and that’s on top of all other regular wakes at night like every two hours of so. I really wonder what is the cause of these long wakes and how to avoid them . Any ideas? Baby is bf frequently during the day and night, starts the night in his cot but then sleeps with me from around 10pm after numerous wakes . He also has 4 meals a day, eats well. I know the wakes are not for hunger, he’s just fully awake like after a nap and ready to play. His schedule is: wakes 6-7am; naps in 2.5-3h for 30-40 min; then awake for 3-3.5h, then naps for anything between 30min and 2h; then 3nap if he only slept for 30 min; bedtime after bath around 7pm. Any cues??

8-9 month sleep regression
Completely normal and something he will grow out of. It’s the mental download he’ll need for walking.

Exactly the same problem at night time.. sometimes he wakes for an hour - but many nights he's been awake for as long as 3 hours in the middle of the night. Starts of wanting to play then he gets grouchy after a while as wants to sleep but can't settle off. You're not alone!
