15 month old wakes 4-5 times a night

My son is 15 months and still breastfed on demand. He has his last feed at 8pm which settles him to sleep every night, but he wakes 4-5 times every single night and has slept through probably once since he's been born. It hasn't ever been an issue for me but lately I am so incredibly tired and I think we would both benefit from getting him into a good sleep routine. Any advice please? I would like to stop breastfeeding as I feel he isn't as interested in solid food as much as he should be. But no idea how to begin weaning so that he's happy too. Thank you

Thank you @NotSoThinLizzy. If you don't mind me asking, how many times in the day does your LO feed? Can't help but feel like my son prefers milk over food and isn't getting what he needs :(

Oh I've been there! My daughter now sleeps through most nights but only since stopping breastfeeding when she was almost 15 months. We started cutting feeds out in the day and got to the point where she'd only feed morning and night. I then only fed her once a night, slowly pushing back the time that she had the feed. It took months but I wasn't in a hurry and actually didn't intend to stop entirely it just sort of happened for various reasons. If I could go back in time I'd probably just cut to the chase and night wean completely. I was always paranoid about her being hungry but actually she's been fine since stopping! She did often object to being refused feeds but I cuddled her and sang to her and it's surprising how quickly they get used to new rules. I can't tell you how nice it is to get night times back as like you my daughter was waking 6 times a night a lot of the time and it was really getting me down! Oh we did pick up put down when she was about 8 months to get her to go to sleep in her cot as she stopped being able to feed to sleep. Wishing you lots of luck! I feel like a different person now that we have our night times back I'm not going to lie.

Wee guy feeds about once or twice in the day eats loads but still wakes up for feeds and comfort. During the day I try to go out so he's less interested in feeding. I make sure he gets a bigish dinner and even supper but that dosent work 😂
