12 weeks - regression? Growth spurt? Help

My 12 week old used to sleep really well (one night feed) until the past few days - now she’s up feeding every 2-3 hours. We are on day 4 now and I’m shattered! Previously she’s had growth spurts which have lasted 2-3 days? Does this one just last longer?
Is there anything I can do? I’ve been suggested to give her baby porridge but surely that’s too early? But then I keep hearing the “well that’s what we used to do back in the day and you turned out fine” comment!
All advice appreciated xx

My 12 week old was up 12-3:30 last night v. Unsettled. I’m hoping it’s a one night thing.

How much is she eating in the day OP?

Don't give solids, they are less calorific than milk anyway and can mess with a baby's digestive system causing more issues.

To be honest, every 2-3 hours is quite normal, although exhausting. Sometimes when they come out the newborn sleepy phase they wake more. Hopefully someone else will have some good advice but otherwise just do what you can to maximise your own sleep.

My 12 week old is doing exactly the same. Until 4 nights ago he was sleeping 9.30-4.30 feeding then going back down until 6.30/7am. Now he’s not sleeping for more than 2 hours and last night was ‘awake’ 11.20-1.30am slept for an hour, fed then has been awake on and off every 20-30 minutes since 5am. That was night 4. I’m literally exhausted.

Thank you everyone. She’s feeding 5-6oz - 3-4 hourly (feeding her on demand this is just her pattern) in the day so she’s feeding well. I’m beginning to think this growth spurt just lasts longer than the others she’s had.

And I know I previously had a good sleeper so her new pattern is quite normal for some babies anyway but it’s hard to go back to very disturbed sleep when you started getting used to getting a good stint again!

It sounds like a few of us have 12 week old babies having growth spurts - fingers crossed we get some sleep soon!

How you getting on?? x

LorruhB · 19/01/2019 08:22

My LO is doing exactly this! She is breastfeed but now wont even feed to sleep without waking a few minutes later.

Last night we tried everything and in the end went back to co-sleeping just to get some rest.

She is refusing to nap in the day too so I know that by bedtime she is exhausted but just wont let herself switch off.

Did you mummas find that this was just a developmental phase??

Any tips on helping her settle? I'm going to try putting her down more regularly today to see if that helps 🤞🏼
