Hi,
My son doesn’t sleep for very long periods and gets over tired to the point of going total bag sh*t crazy.
He wakes every 1-2hr at night still (EBF) but settles back quickly after a feed. During the day he cat naps, five mins, ten mins, sometimes half hour if we’re on the school run. Yet the last 2-3 days he won’t even nap in the car. Yesterday he was awake pretty much from 10.30am until 4.30pm. He had an ‘eye closed’ period when feeding, yet I think the longest was ten minutes. Did go to sleep in the car or pram.
He slept then for about an hour and then was awake again until 11pm.
I tried rocking, singing, just cuddling, trying to offer my breast for comfort (it didn’t go down well) even just laying him down for a few minutes. He ended up conking out.
Slept OK last night (1-2hrs as norm) woke at 8.30am (no school run as older kids with their Dad) and was awake until 10.45am, with the last hour spent screaming. I mirrored an average morning with offering breast/wash/dress etc. so he knew it was morning.
I don’t understand how he won’t just sleep 😩

I'm a FTM so I'm no expert, but I've found with DD (15 weeks) that putting her down as soon as she starts looking sleepy is key. Currently she is ready for a nap 90 mins or less after she's woken up. When she starts yawning I turn down the lights, put on some white noise and give her a feed. If I've timed it right she'll drop right off. If I miss the window she'll be very tricky to put down.

I've tried to be strict with naps for the last few weeks. I found that from about 10 weeks, if she hadn't had a nap she was a complete nightmare after 2 hours awake. It made any activities, groups etc pointless as I'd just spend the time trying to console her!

I'm not sure that helps OP, but you have my sympathies, it's so tough and the goalposts seem to change all the time! Appreciate it much be much harder when you have to factor in other DCs, school run etc.
