I have an 8.5 month old DD
She hates going for naps,
It was real struggle to get her to go for her naps but she slept ok at night time, only really waking 1 or 2 times. But her naps during the day were only for maximum 40 mins If I was lucky. Majority of the time they were 20 mins.
Recently we dropped a nap so she was only having 2 naps and it meant she went to sleep easier at night and stopped fighting her naps as much (still fighting them but not for as long as before)
Still they only really last 20 mins.
Past week or so she's been really restless during her sleep at night, moving around alot, bursting into tears for a few seconds and then stopping and being really fidgety like she can't get comfy. I originally though it may be teething as she still only has one tooth which came in 2 days after Christmas day, but I'm wondering if she's over tired maybe? And that's why she's so restless during the night? Anyone have any experience with this? How many naps does your 8/9 month old have?

My son went through this, and still sort of is (10 months)! Sometimes he would scream murder if put down for a nap!
There is a sleep regression between 8-10 months which can affect babies sleep in line with a developmental leap.
He would mostly still have 2 naps a day but now I am back at work his naps have gone to sh*t with the childminder as she is unable to stick rigidly to his routine.
Sorry I dont have any solution for you, but it will pass! Thats what Im telling myself!

Thanks for replying @blondeirishmummy84
I was wondering if there was a sleep regression at this age. My DD has just learnt a load of new skills from boxing day until a week ago she started making new sounds, started crawling, starting pulling herself up on furniture and standing for a long time only holding on with one hand and she got her first tooth. So I was also thinking maybe this is why she isn't sleeping great too. Babies are so confusing lol but her sleeping is causing me problems as I'm back to work too and really struggling, hopefully it passes soon!

@SofaKingFedUp it definitely sounds like her sleep is disrupted because of all the new skills she has learned and is still learning!
I know my sons sleep was pretty good until about 6 weeks ago and hasnt really got back on track! I am back at work a week now and he is still up several times at night, its tough going! Although thankfully doesnt take too long to get him back over.
