5 week old won't sleep at night... what did you do?

Hi, my 5 week old doesn't want to sleep at night! He can be awake for HOURS with all the shhhing, rocking and feeding in the world won't get him down, only when he's ready but it is exhausting and frustrating... any tips?? He feeds constantly also and even when we have just given him a bottle he wants another almost immediately after (only through the night, day he is fine!), and he will drink it all!
Any tips to get him to go for more than 2 hours at a time through the night? What did you all do with your 5 week olds? Smile
When I feed him at night I cradle him and let him settle for a while in my arms, to the point where he is 90% asleep but then as soon as I put him down in his co-sleeper he wakes straight back up again and is fussy Shock
Thanks in advance! X

Does a 5w old know it's night time therefore should sleep? What does he sleep like in the day?

I suggest changing ur own routine - sleep when they do, be away when they are - and become invested in a box set on Netflix for the lonely 4am nighttime periods!!!

Sounds like you are going through the 'cluster feeding' stage.. where baby feeds more at nights.. totally normally I'm afraid, just as getting no sleep when feeding baby what feels like constantly through growth spurts is..

Usually it's just when you reach absolute breaking point through sleep deprivation.. can't remember when it was 6 weeks or 8 weeks with mine, they suddenly start sleeping 4/5/6 hour stretches..

And just when you get used to that the 6 month sleep regression kicks in and you are back to no sleep again Hmm

All 5 of mine cluster fed at night. I tend to go with the flow though as opposed to trying to go against the grain.
You could try feeding more in the day so he’s less hungry at night but if I’m honest, all mine have guzzled loads at night but thankfully sleep on the job almost.
I know it feels like forever but it will pass.
I find when I try and get them to sleep they resist, and when I’m not really thinking about it, they drop off.
