Is anyone else still rocking and /or feeding to sleep at bedtime, night wakings and for naps? I did what felt right, as I find it so stressful to leave baby crying, but my back is really suffering as she is obviously getting heavier. Needless to say, she waking 3-4 times a night and only settled by me. 2-3 naps per day depending on length and timing.
I'm doing it all myself, as my partner works away during the week.
Do I need to give her more chance to learn to settle herself? I'm so exhausted (as are you all) and I can't think straight enough to know the best thing to do.

I would try letting baby self settle for a couple of nights. Do you BF? I found it easier to lay my DD on my bed on a pillow and bottle feed her before bed, so she got used to me not holding her while she had her milk and was getting sleepy then put her into her cot. Maybe try that? Or it may be a case of letting them cry a little when you put them to bed awake. It is hard OP, but will be better for you and baby in the long run. My DD likes to hold something in her hand (very fond of a tag on her blanket!) and that is a comfort for her. Does your baby have a comforter?

Yes, sorry, I neglected to say that I'm breastfeeding. She's never had a bottle or dummy. I also have a 2 year old. They are both very alert.
I suppose most people must reach this point eventually, where you have to either dig deep and soldier on or do something you don't want to do in order to make things easier.
I love her such an enormous amount and am probably being too soft!
