Hi all,

My little premmie baby is nearly 6 weeks old and is slowly becoming better at sleeping but.... he is so loud when he isn't sleeping on us! When in his Moses basket, he squirms, whimpers etc all while still sleeping. It's great he is sleeping but unfortunately, neither me or husband can sleep through the noises he makes! Until now, he has been off work but goes back on Monday so I'm working about how I'm going to cope without sleep! Tonight I've managed a half hour doze but that's it! Any advice? I know he will grow out of it but need something in the meantime. I've tried hot water bottles, shirt in the basket, swaddling... he's too small for sleeping bags! Many thanks can

White noise? At the least it shoukd cover the noises and let you sleep!

Yep I have Ollie the Owl! And still not loud enough to cover his noise!

My DD did this, made the oddest grunting and whining noises whilst squirming around- I always assumed it was wind related. It always kept me awake too! I used white noise in the end, if the machine you have is too quiet, try an app on your phone which you can turn up louder. He will grow out of it like you say, in the meantime mask it. You will learn to ignore anything that isn’t crying, but I needed to drown out the noises a bit to be able to ignore them and sleep!

I had the same with my premie twins! It was like sleeping in a barnyard when we first brought them home!

I used ear plugs to drown out the worst of the squeaking (but you can still hear if baby needs you) and played their Euan the Dream Sheep constantly.

They are 15 weeks corrected now and sleep much more quietly. I’m sure your will grow out of it soon. Hang on in thereSmile

Oh the grunting
Like a little piglet
It goes away eventually OP, not sure how much can be done unfortuNately Sad
I sent my DH to sleep somewhere else at times so he could catch some and then we would swap
At 2 yo still not sleeping 💆🏻‍♀️

Ds is 11 weeks old and this has improved immensely. I still sleep with a white noise app cranked up to full volume next to my head!
