and the second she is put down in her cot she screams. she will only go to sleep on me or in the car and i am starting to loose my mind...
she is tired and grotty all day and she only ever gets a decent nap if i drive around for ages or i let her sleep while sucking on my boob (which she will happily do for hours and hours...) problem is i also have a 3yr old so it's just not practical to do either of these, i really need her to sleep in her cot, but how do i get her to do it? i try to put her down in her cot and today she screamed for 45mins before i gave up (i kept going in and trying to soothe her but nothing worked)
please please help me! what can i do????

If she is gaining weight ok and defo not hungry then you need to be tough, what if you wrap her up tight in her blanket and roll her onto one side and stay with her keep rubbing her back and talking quietly, i am no one to talk though i drove dd2 every day for a year but her big sister was at school,

Will she take a dummy as a boob substitute? I know many don't like them (I'm none too keen myself) but for me it was the key to getting DS to nap in his cot (without crying).

Hi, had the same problem, so we started going for walks as ds falls asleep in pram/ pushchair.

Now, I just have him in it and he will go to sleep in his pushchair during the day. Not sure whether that might be an option for you.

have no solution daisybo, but do have a 5mo who is exactly the same as this - he'll only nap in car or when I lie down with him and same at night. Gave up on cot when he was ill a couple of weeks ago and he now just lies and sucks all night. Don't know what to do as he SCREAMS the house down if we 'get tough' and will keep screaming for up to 3 hours (that's as far as we've got). We also have a bigger one - ds1 is 20mo so pretty much out of ideas. Will watch this with interest, but you're not alone . hope things improve for you soon.

my 2 ds' were like this and the only solution was age as they slept better in the pushchair as they got older. I've found my freedom sling to be fab with dd1. I'm sure she'd be just as rubbish at daytime sleep if it wasn't for the sling but I just pop her in and walk round a bit, she drops off and I get on with the day while she naps. Give in , it makes life much easier

I've also found that my DD has got better at napping as she's got older. She would only ever nap when laying on me. Could you go through a process whereby you wean off feeding to sleep. Perhaps lay with her then after a couple of weeks hold hands etc until she no longer needs you there?
