No! 22 months and suddenly won’t go to bed!

We’ve been so lucky, DS2 has, since about 6 months, been put down to bed awake and gone of to sleep himself with no hassle or crying whatsoever.
These last couple of weeks though, he won’t go, he cries and screams until one of us shushes him to sleep (which can take aaages as he just keeps sitting up)
There is nothing obviously wrong with him, not ill, teething and no changes to routine or anything.
Is this just button pushing? What do I do?!

Thanks

I’ve since read it is quite common at this age, part of the 2yr sleep regression, it’s just not knowing how to handle it!? And how not to “give in” to it too much. Argh...!
