10 week old - reflux?

Hi all - I’m wondering if my 10 week old has reflux. At night he will typically be asleep by 7pm then wakes at 10pm and 1am for feeds. After that time it’s anyone’s guess when he will wake but it’s generally every 1-2 hours. Last night he woke at 1am and took a full feed. He was then awake again at 2am. I tried to passify him with a dummy but the only thing that would settle him is more food. As he takes good feeds - approx 3-4oz a time - I’m wondering whether he may have reflux which is waking him as I doubt he’s still hungry? I read somewhere that babies suffering with reflux cry for food to try and get rid of the pain. He usually stirs awake and then cries until I feed him. Once he’s had a feed he will be dozy in my arms when I put him in his crib. As soon as I put him down he’s squirms around and kicks his legs and just seems really restless. He does settle himself but he’s very wriggly before then. Does this sound like reflux? If so any tips? I give him anti reflux formula and have tried gripe water but it doesn’t seem to work...I was wondering if there’s anything I can try to see whether it is reflux or whether he is just hungry?

It absolutely doesn’t sound like reflux, what it does sound like is a perfectly normal 10 week old whose waking because he’s HUNGRY Smile

Might he just be hungry? My LO is 12 weeks old today but has been taking 6oz for the last couple of weeks and 5oz for a couple of weeks before that. Might be worth increasing your LOs amount of milk and see if that helps maybe? Good luck with it. The sleep deprivation is the worst thing isn't it?

Thanks for the replies! When he wakes for a feed I give him as much as he wants - he then gets to a point where he refuses the bottle. So I guess he’s just a grazer at night!
Yes sleep deprivation is the worst! I long for the days when he’ll sleep for longer!!

If he’s ff he needs roughly 2.5 floz per pound in weight in 24 hours. So if he’s say 11lb, he’ll need about 27.5 floz a day.

It might help to work out how much he needs a day using that formula and getting as much of it into him during the day as you can Smile

Yep normal for a 10week old. some Babies like to feed little and often. It seems the thing nowadays to diagnose babies who don’t sleep at night with reflux Confused. It’s also totally normal for them to sleep soundly in your arms and wake the moment they hit the cot! It’s very hard but it should get better and he’ll start to sleep for longer periods (hopefully).
