Catnapping

I have a 3 month old baby who sleeps amazingly well at night (9 hours, feed, 3 hours) but will not do more than 30/40 min naps in the day unless he’s in the car or pram. Does anyone have any advice on how to get him to do longer naps? Is it something I need to be worried about or should I just go with it?

My baby is the same nap wise, not that good on a night unfortunately! I'm trying to get her to nap in her crib but she's having none of it.

How dark is the room where they nap?

Not very dark at all! I was wondering whether that might be the reason why he’s so good at night but not in the day?

This is very normal, lots of babies do this. Mine was doing longer naps until around 3 months. The sleep regression hit and 30-min naps became the norm.

My 9 month old still does it Sad can't get anything done. Usual advise is keep light low, noise low but not super quiet. Make sure not to hot or cold. Also keep wake for appropriate amount of time. Not that any of this helped with my DS. Hope it works for you.

I have daytime naps in a room with blackout curtains and blinds. Worth a try! You can get portable blackout blinds inexpensively and give it a go?

I have literally the same problem and he's been like this almost since he was born. Ditto to the sleeping really well at night. If you solve the problem let me know how! I do have blackout curtains and have the room exactly the same in the day as at night so it's not that. I thought this wasn't supposed to happen until AFTER sleep regression ... really worried he's going to end up doing night time catnapping too - eeek!

My baby was always like this. It seemed to get worse during and after the four month regression. He was catnapping during the day for max 30-40 minutes. He slept quite well at night though. I just went with it and let him nap whenever he wanted to (which was often). At around 8 months his day times naps started to lengthen. he's now 9 months and will nap for a solid 1-1.5 hours morning and afternoon.
