9 1/2 month old won't sleep past 5am! Advice needed

Hi All,

My DS won't sleep past 5am, he goes down at about 6:30pm, wakes for a 9pm bottle, and sometimes (if I'm unlucky) for a nighttime bottle around 3, but I can't seem to get him to sleep past 5/5:30am.

He's been like it for about 2 months and I don't know how to get him out of this habit, he has breakfast between 7-8am and then will go down again for his morning nap at about 9, where he'll sleep for roughly an hour.

does anyone have any tips on how I can change this? Would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

6.30pm is quite early, can that bedtime be pushed back to say 8pm ?

Hi, I found that when mine started waking up early like that it was time to push back his morning nap by 15 mins or so. It took me ages to figure that out but once I did, each time it happened (every few months or so) I realised that it was my cue to adjust his nap. That worked for me- might be worth a try?

Thanks, we’ve tried a couple of times to push his sleep back but he seems to not go any longer! my DH and I have pushed his sleep back to 7:30pm today and we’re going to persist to see if that makes an improvement 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼!

He probably won't sleep for any longer periods (that won't happen for a little while yet) but it might stop the early wake up. Fingers crossed for you. It's hard being up so early!

I make it bareable by putting the heating on, having a hot strong coffee, plenty of toast and catch up on some TV. It will pass, it's pretty normal (although not much fun if you see it as a problem that needs fixing).
