Bedtime routine

Hello! My baby boy is now 4 weeks old (I know that this is still very young when it comes to sleep). He is so content all day and naps and feeds easily but when it comes to night time he's a whole other person lol. At 22:30 every night without fail he comes to life!! He did while he was in my tummy too though so I'm hoping he'll adjust. He refuses to sleep until around 1am even though we do the whole bedtime routine around 8-9 depending on when he's last fed. Do I need to start bedtime earlier?! I don't know when is to early to do it properly? Can anyone suggest anything to try help him get accustomed to night time? Like I said I know he's still very young and I'm not expecting miracles but just wondered if anyone else had a night owl and what you did to help them? And how long it took for them to distinguish that night time is for sleeping? Thanks

Hey, my baby did this - google the 'witching hour' for babies. I don't necessarily think anything at his age is going to make much difference however just keep lights dimmed, noises low, if you're breastfeeding then feed on demand as he may be trying to stimulate milk. And for your own sanity be prepared for those hours awake - Netflix, nap earlier in the day. In the day it can help to then open windows, bright lights, fresh outfit for baby and get out and about so you're making a clear distinction between day and night. If baby hasn't napped well in the day then he could be overtired so always encourage naps during the day and don't assume that keeping him awake will lead to better sleep later!
