Temperature at Night

My 5 month old sleeps with a sleeveless grobag, normally a long sleeved babygro or pyjamas and a vest underneath. The room is usually between 19-22 degrees.

All this is pretty much exactly what’s advised, but sometimes I worry he is too cold. His hands are often like ice and his wee face feels quite cold as well. He never really feels cosy or toasty.

I’m a FTM and quite anxious about certain things so I know I’m probably over thinking things.

I’d just sleep better myself if I was reassured the wee mite was warm enough.

Can anyone advise on this?

Exactly the same here, I'm on third baby and have always tried to keep room around 19.5 degrees (not possible in summer!) with 2.5tog sleeping bag and long sleeved vest. Their hands sometimes feel cold but totally normal and their better off cooler than too hot.

Check their chest to see how warm or cold they are, hands and feet temps aren't really important.
Is she/he in a sleeping bag, and what tog is it?

Cassie85 · 30/12/2018 23:11

Yeah his sleeping bag is 2.5 as well.

I do the usual check his chest or back of neck, but I suppose you just expect babies to feel ‘cosy’.

Thanks, that's reassuring to know that you’re doing similar. 🙂

He will be fine - if he's too cold he will wake up to tell you Smile (I used to worry about it lots too)

Thanks choochoo,I read that if they’re too cold they will cry which reassures me slightly. Motherhood eh, brings out the worrier in all of us 😂
