How to reset toddler routine after Christmas?

DS is just over 2 and has never been a great sleeper; however we had got him going to bed around 7:30, taking an hour to nod off but being happy at being left to it and then waking around 5:30am with a 2 hour lunch time nap.

Christmas has totally ruined him! The later bedtimes, less chance for naps and over stimulation is causing havoc with his sleep. He can’t drop off at night and gets upset, he wakes in the middle of the night and is awake for hours, not able to fall asleep and not wanting to be left alone.

Do I tough it out, shut his door and let him cry, or is there a gentler approach? I need him back
to normal by next week when I’m at work!

I can't offer any advice I am afraid but have the same issue with 14mo. He was awake between 1am and 4am chatting away in our bed after refusing to be left alone. DH is already back to work too. I am just still perservering with naps as normal when possible (although I know new year will throw him off again) in the hope he will gradually reset himself and calm down

Same here finally got him sleeping through the night and falling asleep in his cot on his own and now he will only fall asleep in my arms and wakes for hours at a time.

I'm going to do sleep training again tonight. I'm just going to sit by his cot and ignore him. If he stands up lie him back down and if he gets really upset I'll pick him up until he calms then put him back
