Am I clutching at the straws??

DS 18 Months is a great sleeper... except he gets up RIDICULOUSLY early. I'm jealous of people that say there kids get up at 5:30 😬 He's regularly up for the day at 4:45/5am. Sometimes we get as late at 5:30/40. Bedtime is around 7. Sometimes a bit earlier and sometimes a bit later. Have tried earlier and later bedtimes but doesn't make a massive difference.

I'm wondering if changing to a toddler bed might help? Like reverse psychology. If he knows he can get up when he wants maybe he'll stay in bed longer. Am I clutching at the straws here???

Our ds1 was exactly the same from 18m until just after he turned 3. We tried everything to stop him getting up at 4am, putting to bed later, stopping daytime naps etc. Spoke to hv and nursery nurses. Unfortunately some children are just early risers and if there's nothing specific waking them up it's really hard to change it. If you can I would make him stay in his room until its a more acceptable time, we couldn't do this as he would wake Ds2 up. Does he have a nap during the day? I've read somewhere that nap times should finish no more than 3-4 hours before bedtime. I really sympathise with you it's really hard.
